Online Donations

Why donate On-Line?

Simon Livesey writes:

I think anyone wishing to make a donation to the Parish should consider doing it online.
The new Parish website is easy to navigate and the fundraising pages are easy to find using the menu down the side of the homepage.  You can choose whether your gift goes to the redevelopment fund or the Parish's general funds.

If you have your credit or debit card handy it only takes two or three minutes which is probably quicker than looking for your chequebook and writing a cheque.  You also have the option of using Paypal.

There are two big advantages.  You can make your donation at any time of day or night, whenever it suits you to catch up with your finances or plan your charitable donations.  Also you get a receipt immediately by e-mail for your tax records which is important if you are using Gift Aid.  And you can give any amount, large or small.

The cost of maintaining our Church and fostering the spiritual life of our parishioners and other residents and visitors is ever increasing.

If you are able to help us in our work, we are always grateful to receive donations.

By clicking on the attached link, you will be transferred to a Secure Site, operated on our behalf by the Charities Aid Foundation. You will there be able to donate via PayPal, Credit Card or Bank Card-- in a variety of currencies -- to either our Parish Funds or to our specific Development Fund.

If you are a UK Tax Payer
, you can also Gift Aid your contribution allowing us to recover Tax from the UK Government. This boosts the value of your donation by 28%.
If you are also a higher rate UK tax payer, you can benefit from the tax relief as you may claim back the difference between the higher rate of tax at 40% and the basic rate of tax at 20% on the total value of your gross donation.

How Gift Aid works
The Gift Aid scheme is for gifts of money by individuals who pay UK tax. Gift Aid donations are regarded as having basic rate tax deducted by the donor. Charities or CASCs take your donation - which is money you've already paid tax on - and reclaim basic rate tax from HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) on its 'gross' equivalent - the amount before basic rate tax was deducted. Basic rate tax is 20 per cent, so this means that if you give £10 using Gift Aid, it's worth £12.50 to the charity. For donations between 6 April 2008 and 5 April 2011 the charity or CASC will also get a separate government supplement of 3p on every pound you give.
