2012 First Holy Communion Candidates
Letter to Parents of Candidates
13th May 2012
Dear First Communion Parents
St. Mary’s is privileged and honoured to be playing the sponsor role for your child to receive the sacrament of First Holy Communion. It is certainly an important milestone in the spiritual life and development of your child and, we hope, as a result, St, Mary’s Cadogan Street will hold a special place in your family’s heart for years to come.
Each year, as the course ends we write to our parents and ask them if they are able to help the Parish in a special manner. As you know, in order to have proper facilities for all our community activities, we have rebuilt the rectory and redeveloped our gardens. As a result we have a certain level of debt to repay to the archdiocese. Each month we ask the parish to contribute and so far this year we have raised more than £41,000 towards our 2012 goal of £75,000. With the continued generosity of our parishioners, we expect to eliminate our debt in the next two years. In the past when we appealed to our First Holy Communion Parents to consider making a thanksgiving offering, we received an extra £7000 from approximately 70 families, for which we were tremendously grateful.
This year the parish priests and catechists have requested that parents consider a donation to the parish in lieu of gifts made directly to them. The catechists do this work out of love for the children and through the goodness of their hearts and in this way we all benefit from the continued health of our parish community.
As a special group in our parish, we ask you, the First Communion families of 2012, to consider a donation towards our annual campaign. Only you know what you can give, but we know that if each family does donate we will reach our goal. It would be great to get our annual total to over £50,000 before the holidays begin. Can we ask you to think and pray about this and then, help us in this work?
We attach a Gift Aid form for UK taxpayers (Download here). Please make cheques payable to St Mary’s Project Fund. Donations can also be made via the parish website and by clicking here.
We promise to keep all of you in our prayers and look forward to hearing from you.
With prayers and warm regards,
Canon Stuart Wilson Andres Rubio
Parish Priest Chair of the Annual Campaign Committee
