40 Hours Eucharistic Devotion
15th - 17th May 2011

St Mary's hosted this year's Deanery 40 Hours Devotion, which began after Sunday evening Mass,
15th May with the Blessed Sacrament exposed until 12 noon Tuesday, 17th May. The devotion ended with a Mass celebrated by Bishop Alan Hopes in the presence of the clergy of the Deanery and a large congregation. The numbers were also swelled by a visiting group of Americans from Boston with 3 of their priests.
The experience was hailed by Bishop Alan in his Homily and by many participants as a unique
opportunity to spend prolonged time with Jesus.

Are you prepared to be part of the praying/ adoring community that will be here? No one is too old and no
one is too young. For a successful FORTY HOURS DEVOTION all that we need to bring is our heart and
our desire to love Jesus more.
Every parish in the Deanery is coming to spend some time as watchers. There is a special time when our
parish will gather together and it is Monday 16th from 3am – 7am and Tuesday, 17th from 7am to 11am. Let's turn out in good number for that.
Not sure about what the 40 hours of Adoration entails?
We have produced a leaflet to help you and it is available at the back of the Church or you can download it here.
Our Parish will be in attendance all the time and Karen McDonald and the Papal Group are planning a
timetable of people to watch before the Blessed Sacrament. We encourage you to sign up for an hours'
devotion on the registration forms in the Church or contact the Parish Office.
